Description

An aneroid sphygmomanometer is a commonly used device for measuring blood pressure. Unlike digital models, it uses a mechanical gauge and does not require a power source.

  1. Components:
    • Inflatable Cuff: The cuff wraps around the upper arm and is inflated to restrict blood flow.
    • Gauge: The aneroid gauge has a dial with a needle that indicates the blood pressure reading.
    • Bulb: A hand-operated rubber bulb inflates the cuff.
    • Valve: The valve on the bulb allows for controlled deflation of the cuff.
    • Stethoscope (if included): Used to listen to the blood flow sounds to determine systolic and diastolic pressures.
